Vid de uvas en un viñedo en la Rioja Oriental

Discover the most famous vineyards and wineries of Eastern Rioja

If we look to where the dawn rises, we will find the Eastern Rioja, made up of Rioja and Navarre territory and formerly called Rioja Baja. A land that breathes wine since the Roman Empire, who promoted the cultivation of the vine in it. It is a unique destination thanks to its landscapes privileged by the fertility of their land, where the most outstanding feature is their exquisite cuisine based mainly on vegetables from orchards irrigated by the waters of the Ebro and its tributaries. The cave paintings millennia, the thermal water spasnatural and hundreds of museums y interpretation centers are part of the essence of this land, full of nature, history and gastronomy

The easternmost part of the DOCa Rioja is dominated by large extensions of vineyards irrigated by the different rivers and tributaries of the Ebro. The north wind and the dryness of the atmosphere give rise to cooler winters and hotter summers. Its clay-ferrous and alluvial soils and the influence of the Mediterranean climate are key to a drier and warmer climate in lower altitude vineyards, producing grapes of excellent condition, ripeness and quality that define the essence of the territory. With them are achieved medium-bodied and light wines, with greater structure and higher alcohol content. In contrast, the mountainous areas of the Rioja Baja create wines of great contrasts and diversity in the Designation of Origin.
